Practice Areas
Ms. Berlin specializes in representing healthcare providers, including hospitals, laboratories, home health agencies, hospices, skilled nursing facilities, physicians and allied health professionals. Her practice includes advising clients on various issues, including compliance, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, licensing and certification, medical staff, JCAHO, medical board, consent, and other regulatory and health law-related matters. In addition, she regularly assesses billing and scope of practice issues; drafts compliance policies and procedures; reviews and revises job descriptions to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations; drafts corrective action plans and voluntary disclosures to government agencies; defends denials of JCAHO accreditation and federal and state citations and/or terminations from the Medicare and Medicaid program; defends professional board accusations; assists with Medical Staff hearings; and defends HIPAA complaints from the Office for Civil Rights.
