Kevin N. Royer is an associate in the Regulatory Department of the firm’s Los Angeles office, where he assists hospitals and other health care providers on business, general corporate, and real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, financings and leasing, and other regulatory issues arising in connection with business transactions. Mr. Royer is also a member of the firm's fraud and abuse working group, and assists healthcare providers both in defending against false claims allegations, as well as in administrative litigation in connection with Medi-Cal audit appeals. In addition, he also helps health care providers and suppliers in business litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution.
Mr. Royer received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law in 2016, specializing in business law and policy. In law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Stuart M. Rice of the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mr. Royer also worked as a research assistant for Shauhin Talesh, focusing on the areas of arbitration and election law. During his first year of law school, Mr. Royer earned awards for academic excellence in contracts and civil procedure, and received recognition for his pro bono work.
Prior to law school, Mr. Royer was an emergency medical technician in Sacramento County, where he experienced first-hand the connection between exceptional patient care and excellent legal advice. Concurrently, he also worked as a commercial singer-songwriter for TV and film; his music has appeared on major television networks such as Fox, MTV, and ABC Family.
