Our firm has a long history of successfully working with clients to achieve health care reform through statutory and regulatory changes at both the federal and state level. Our attorneys and federal health policy specialists work together to produce optimal results for our clients.

Federal Reform Through Advocacy

We have enhanced our Washington, D.C. office with a team of non-lawyer experts that possesses decades of health care expertise and a wealth of direct experience with federal health policy, with a consistent track record of success on behalf of health care clients.

Using a combination of strategic planning, economic analysis, coalition building, and issue development & monitoring, our team lobbies Congress and federal government agencies. We don’t just open doors. We also provide education and analysis to solve the real problems that the public and industry need to solve complex health care problems.

Our government relations professionals have advocated on behalf of clients before the White House, Congress, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), and others.

Bringing together an understanding of the political, economic and legal implications of current health care policy and other ongoing federal initiatives, the following is a brief list of issues on which our government relations team has successfully worked:

California State Legislative and Regulatory Policy

When California’s governor or legislature propose omnibus health initiatives, there are often unintended consequences that, if not addressed early in the process, often take many years to rectify. Our attorneys help health care providers identify the possible consequences of new legislation. We also support lobbyists for health systems and trade associations in explaining needed changes to regulators, state Legislatures and Congress with the aim of shaping legislation to our clients’ benefit. We have drafted key legislation on behalf of our health care clients. In addition, government officials often contact our attorneys to provide input on proposed regulatory changes.
